		<description>Well how I think it works is... The ETF holds a butch of stocks... in SPY&#039;s case it&#039;s all the stocks in the S&amp;P 500.  So since it holds all these stocks some of them will pay their dividends.  SPY will receive these dividends and once every quarter add them up and distribute them to whoever owns the ETF.   Here&#039;s SPY&#039;s dividend history...
