It’s been over 20 years since the movie Wall Street hit theaters and brought to light the greed and excess that can be found on the street. For years fans of the original film have been waiting for a sequel to the Oliver Stone classic, and luckily their long wait is about to end. Rumors of a possible sequel have been floating around for quite some time. I remember reading some of the rumblings years ago and nothing ever materialized… much to my dismay. However, that’s in the past and I’m excited to hear that Oliver Stone will be directing the sequel that’s set to open in theaters sometime next year.
Starring in the film will be Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko who is fresh out of prison and ready to re-establish himself on Wall Street. Shia LaBeouf will also be in the movie. He’ll be playing the role of a young trader that’s going out with Gekko’s daughter. The whole movie will be set along the backdrop of our current economic meltdown… specifically the Bear Sterns debacle.
I can’t remember being as excited for a movie as I am for Wall Street 2. To read more about the upcoming sequel check out this article.
Awesome news!
This will be a great one! Just in time b/c I’m telling you, pay in 2009 on Wall St. is reaching, if not surpassing 2007 peak levels again. It’s unbelievable what’s being thrown out there.
Wall St. over fired in the downturn, are making similar profits and have 25% less people to pay. It’s a job bonanza!
